What is 3D bedding? What is bedding with a 3D effect?

Sample bedding with 3D effect patterns

3D bedding – also called as a bedding with a 3D effect, bedding with a 3D print or three-dimensional bedding with a 3D pattern. Most often it is a bedding made of polyester or poly-cotton fabric with a reactive print of specific, very colorful flower patterns, with animals, cars, buildings and other motifs. Bedding sets with a 3D print are available in 2 or 3-piece sets (with double pillowcases) as well as 5-pieces sets with two large and small pillowcases or 6-pieces sets additionally with a bed sheet. 3D (three-dimensional) bedding is intended rather for adults, and 3D children’s patterns are very rare. Undoubtedly, the biggest advantage of 3D bedding is the low price and high availability of a wide variety of patterns. The disadvantage of 3D bedding is the relatively low quality of the fabric used – usually it is 100% polyester, microfiber or microfiber under names suggesting that the bedding is made of cotton, e.g. “100% synthetic cotton”, “100% microcotton”, “100% micro cotton satin “etc.

The name of 3D bedding is a kind of marketing gimmick and what the “3D printing effect” is about is not known. A flat surface (and such is the surface of the fabric), regardless of the quality of the print, will not change into a 3D solid. The print itself, even if it is in high quality, can only give the impression of space, but it is more a matter of individual perception and impression of the recipient than the most important feature of bedding. The printing technology does not allow the simultaneous printing of a flat surface at different angles, so it is not really known if and how to receive the marking of the 3D printing technology. User reviews on many internet forums are critical of the print quality and visibility of the “3D effect”. The most frequently raised objections are imprecise, blurry print, shifting patterns in relation to the central part of the bedding, and rapid wear of the material. Another characteristic feature are the photos of 3D bedding in the offers of online stores and auction portals. Only catalog photos are presented, which may raise some concerns as to the appearance and “3D effect” of bedding in reality. Taking advantage of the negative experiences of users of this type of bedding, we suggest increased vigilance. Before making a purchase, we recommend sending a request to the seller to send “live” photos of bedding other than the catalog and photos of the tag / label with the material used for bedding set production. The information received should dispel any doubts, and the possible lack of contact from the seller may mean that it is not worth taking into account when choosing a seller.
