Duvet with acrylic fiber inserts – synthetic acrylic fiber with a structure similar to wool, or a mixture of acrylic fiber and wool fibers. Due to the low cost of manufacturing and the general availability of materials, quilts with acrylic filling were particularly popular in the 80’s and 90’s of the twentieth century. The most important feature of mixed acrylic and wool duvet insert is it’s lightness and the properties of synthetic fibers make these quilts can be used by allergy sufferers. Nowadays acrylic fiber filling is used less and less often, because it has been replaced with a synthetic filling made of polyester with much better hypoallergenic properties and comparable basis weight.
